It's that time of the year again where some of the most dedicated and elite athletes descend upon Noosa to compete in the nationally renowned Noosa Triathlon. Having started in 1983 only drawing 180 competitors the Triathlon has grown considerably in popularity since then, now enticing competitors and sponsors on a global scale. In 2009 as part of the Q150 celebrations, The Noosa triathlon was recognised as one of the Q150 Icons in the “Event & Festival” category alongside such large events as the Ekka and the Gold Coast Indy.
Beginning on Friday the 1st of November and concluding on the 3rd the brave and fit competitors will face a gruelling 1.5-kilometre swim, a 40-kilometre bike rid then a 10-kilometre run through the beautiful streets of Noosa finishing on Noosa Parade near Hastings Street. Offering a top prize of over 15 thousand dollars perhaps it'’'s time to start training! Don’t think for one second however that the event is just for the competitors, spectators have plenty on offer with the Festival Village including The Noosa Sport & Lifestyle Expo in the Noosa Woods or even watch the action from the best seats in house at the VIP Trackside Garden. With plenty to do and see for all ages this is surely a weekend not to miss!
